So NBC Sports has kind of taken a step back in our (my) book. I’ve been ranting and raving about their excellent pre-season promotion over the past couple weeks with TV commercials, subway and street posters, and internet video short films. Now the Gareth Bale saga has entered the realm of NBC Sports promo’s with their massive Times Square advertisement that was put up a few weeks ago.
Well it looks like NBC may already have the inside scoop on Bale’s will-he, won’t-he exit to Real Madrid. Today, the owner of the EPL’s TV rights in America this season have taken down the massive poster of Bale; notably in a Tottenham shirt and not a Madrid shirt. The Spurs took Bale off of their Twitter home page yesterday, and now with this move it seems like we are just days away from Bale announcing his move to the Spanish capital.
What really bothers me, however, is NBC Sports’ replacement for the poster. I’m sure they had to scramble something together rather last minute, but c’mon, you could do better.
The fuck is that? Looks like some 12 year old whipped that together in Photoshop this morning.
