NBC’s Coverage of Next Year’s EPL Has Me All Sorts of Excited

Am I the only one who gets goosebumps?  I better not be, cause that shit looks awesome. EVERY GAME.  EVERY TEAM.  LIVE.  (They may want to update the “Every Fergie time robbery.”)  Sorry Fox Soccer, it’s been real, but NBC just snatched up your balls and threw them out the window.  You haven’t come close to this type of coverage.

Here in the U S and A, the Stanley Cup has just started on NBC and the network is taking this prime time to further promote next years coverage of the EPL and their commercials have me O-facing.

Goofelumps, everywhere.

It really looks like NBC Sports Network is not fucking around with this and they mean business.  Their EPL coverage might be a real anchor for this somewhat-new initiative by NBC.  The only other major sport they cover is the NHL, so they’re going to look to get some leverage with the EPL and it’s a big move.  With the game growing more and more every year in this country, this could be the final push to get serious and legitimate coverage of all of the premier league games.

Fox soccer had a good run, and for the underground footy fans in the US it had sort of a cult following.  But they’ve got nothing on this.  Their coverage was good enough and got the job done with the bigger games of every weekend, but their scope and budget couldn’t give us everything we need.  So up steps NBC.  I’m pretty jazzed to see where this goes and how they actually manage airing games, commentators, and analysis.  August 17th can’t come soon enough.
