Crystal Palace Get the Third and Final Premier League Spot

The Championship play-off came to an end yesterday as Crystal Palace was taking on Watford for the third and final spot in promotion to the Premier League for next season. The Championship play-off is a great idea for a battle for promotion for the teams not guaranteed a spot when the regular season is over.  The teams that finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th all battle it out in a play-off to earn that coveted final spot.  And when I mean coveted, I mean that Crystal Palace is estimated to have earned approximately £120 million just from the promotion.  Crystal Palace earned the mega bucks.

And these games always prove to be tense with such high stakes involved.  This one was no different with the break-through finally coming after 105 minutes of play.  A penalty was awarded to Crystal Palace after Man United-bound winger Wilfried Zaha was taken down in the box, with Kevin Phillips knocking in the winner.  Welcome back Palace, please bring your cheerleaders.
