New Ronaldo Rumours are Swirling

There is news out of The Sun this morning of a fresh race to sign Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United.  Speculation has been strong over the past few months of where Ron will end up this summer.  His contract is over in 2 years but with the likelihood of Jose Mourinho leaving Madrid in the summer for Chelsea, Cristiano is said to be ready to end his time with the club and not endure another time of transition.

Ronaldo left United for Real in 2009 for £80 million

Sir Alex is looking to have a surplus of cash to spend this summer due to new TV deals, increased sponsorship’s, and the possibility of some players being sold (or included in the deal for Ronaldo).  Big spenders PSG have also jumped into the mix for the former United man, as well as some interest coming from Bayern Munich.

I’m thinking if Man United are to sign the Portuguese playmaker, they will have depart with Nani or Wayne Rooney, if not both.  At this point I’m willing to let that happen.  As much as I love Wayne Rooney, the constant rumors of him going elsewhere and being unhappy with his time at Old Trafford and Ferguson are getting real tired.  Ideally I’d love for him to stay, settle in that midfield/offensive midfield role, and see out his illustrious career at United.  But that will be tough to get Ronaldo and hold on to Rooney.  Nani can go. I’ll trade Ronaldo for Nani any day of the week.

It’s going to be tough make this happen, but United has some leverage in this case.  Ronaldo has publicly stated he plans to not extend his contract with the Spanish giants, and has also expressed his love and desire to return to Old Trafford and Sir Alex.

I am giddy with anticipation.
