Gareth Bale, noted greatest human being to ever have lived, just picked up the PFA Player of the Year award as well as the PFA Young Player of the Year award. Well done to him, we here at CotW definitely feel it was earned (see: most posts in the last few months).
Bale beat out Suarez, who finished second (more on that in a minute), and RVP finished the voting in third.
Now, the announcements were made last night at a gala affair in London in which professionals, journalists and other guests were in attendance. Things got a bit out of hand, however, when Luis Suarez’s name was mentioned as runner up for the PotY award. Seems Suarez isn’t the most popular man in England right now. Boo’s rang out as his name was called for the PotY and TotY. The man is an absolute maniac and for anyone over the age of 6 years old to bite a defender on the soccer pitch, there has to be some serious mental issues going on there. Boo’s are the least he deserves (I guess that 10-match ban also works).
Anyway, the TotY was also announced with Champions Manchester United getting the majority of the nods. Particularly proud to see David De Gea in there as the goal keeper, can we finally shut up about whether or not he was a good signing?
