Now that the dust has cleared from that stampede of German football, let’s take a few minutes to reflect on some of the goals of the past two days. I think most will admit that this was a bit of a surprise after we saw the draw for this years Champs League semi’s. Two Spanish powerhouses in top form with an away-home tie against two of Germany’s top clubs. Not to take anything away from Dortmund and Bayern, obviously they have been the better clubs, but going into this I’m sure many thought we’d be heading towards an El Clasico Champions League final.
But NEIN! said the Germans, and look at those tiny little Spaniards now! Cristiano managed to get one back against Bayern before the half last night, but this highlights post is going to be strictly a German affair. Let’s take a look at the best goals:
Most of the goals for Bayern were knock in’s from around the mouth of the goal, so nothing too spectacular but very clinical. The pick of the litter has to be this Robben finish (with a little help from Muller):
Going to a Borussia Dortmund game is now officially on my bucket list. It looks absolutely mental there and the fans are something else. Imagine going into a stadium and there are 80,000 of these nutcases:
Most goals in this game also were pretty straight forward, with Robert Lewandowski scoring all 4 goals against Madrid (!) which is a first against Los Blancos. Easily the best goal of the game was this incredible finish, so cheeky:
His stock has gotta be through the roof right now, it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer. Joining “Bayern Dortmund” along with Mario “Judas” Gotze? Over to the EPL with Manchester United? Time will tell, but I think he’s squarely on everyone’s radar now.
