Manchester City Just Won’t Shut Up

I’m sorry, but it’s time for me to go on a bit of a Manchester City rant here.  As you may have guessed, I am a Manchester United fan and obviously I will have some bias here and there.  I respect teams like Arsenal and Liverpool for the way they conduct business and play the game.  They weren’t bought with oil money and didn’t go from mediocrity to hoisting trophies in just a few years.  (City went from finishing 14th in the Premier League in 2006-07 to finishing 5th in 2009-10.  Sheikh Monsour bought the team in ’08 and things dramatically changed because he has all the money in the world.  City bought trophies.)

I have no respect for this way of success.  Don’t get me wrong, City have a great team and they play good looking football with some of the world’s best players, but try developing an academy and building up players.  Earn your success.

Anyway, the latest bit of shit to come out of the Eastlands is that god damn manager of theirs again refusing to accept the fact that he doesn’t have the best team this year. Mancini has said that this year “is not a true table.  The difference is that we score 20 goals less than last year.  This is the only difference: we score less goals than last year.” How is this even an argument?  Yeah, you scored less goals, and therefor you’re not as good and not at the top of the table.  That’s how it works.

He also went on to say that he is not concerned with Tevez’s off the pitch behavior and latest conviction of driving with a suspended license and no insurance.  I’m going to go ahead and agree with him here.  Really not a big deal and doesn’t reflect on the team all that much.  Tevez is just an idiot.  In related City news, Yaya Toure has signed a contract extension for 4 years at the Etihad which is concerning news for any United fan.  Top quality player and really the quarter back of that team, would’ve loved to see him go elsewhere.

OK, rant over.  Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
