2012 Mitre Top 5 Goals of the Year

With it being the International break right now, we’re a bit slow over here at Cheeks of the Week.  With that being said, there is a lack of material and general non-sense to post up here so I’ve gone trolling for some material.  You’d think with the international break there would be some shenanigans off the pitch.  There may be some international goals to post and things like that, but where are the usual suspects getting too drunk at local pubs?  Joey Barton, what are you doing right now?

Well, the short list and winner for the Mitre top 5 goals of the year have been announced. For those of you not in-the-know (I have been in-the-know for about 4 days), the Mitre goal of the year is the top goal from all leagues under the EPL and it produces some beauts. Below are the top 5 finalists, with the winner at the bottom.  Don’t sleep on the lower tiers!

Nick Powell – Crewe Alexandra (vs. Cheltenham Town)

Sam Byram – Leeds United (v Oxford United)

Mark Hudson – Cardiff City (v Derby County)

Simon Cox Nottingham – Nottingham Forest (v Birmingham City)

Josh Wright – Millwall (v Burnley)

Hard to pick a winner here, as these are some smashes, but according to Mitre Simon Cox for Nottingham Forest is the winner.  Perhaps we’ll be seeing more of Mr. Cox next year?
