Celtic vs. Juventus: (0-3) It looks as though Celtic will need a footy miracle if they want to advance to the next round of the Champions League after Tuesdays clash with Italian giants Juventus.
Essentially, Juve had this game won in the 3rd minute when Alessandro Matri squeaked this volley/dribbler/clusterfuck past Celtic keeper Fraser Forster to set the tone for the evening.
The game was pretty tight from that moment until in the 77th minute when Claudio Marchisio charged down the left side, tapped L1, and cut back inside to place the ball just past the keeper on the near post to put his side ahead 0-2.
Then in the 83rd minute, Mirko Vucinic put the nail in Celtic’s coffin and slotted home the final goal of the match.
Celtic will travel to Turin on March 6 to try to pull off what would be the miracle of all miracles. But for right now, it’s safe to save that Juve will likely be moving on to the final 8.
Valencia vs. PSG (1-2): It was a good day for the away team as PSG put in a solid effort at Valencia yesterday night to come back home to Paris with a well deserved W as they look ahead to their March 6th bout in the City of Lights, which could land them in the final 8 draw.
The scoring began for PSG in the 10th minute when Ezequiel Lavezzi held down the trick stick, maneuvered his way into the box and fired one home past keeper Vicente Guaita to put PSG up 0-1.
Javier Pastore put his side ahead 0-2 right before the break in the 43rd minute when Lucas Moura cut back from the touchline and rifled a pass to the center of the box where Pastore was waiting for the one timer.
Valencia got a late goal in the 90th minute from Adil Rami off a nice set piece which could make things interesting when these two teams face off again next month.
Oh yeah, there was this completely bollocks red card that was called in injury time against Ibra that will force him to sit the second leg of the Champions League matchup, which will certainly make things interesting during next month’s rematch.
