Well this should be a good one. Real Madrid. Manchester United. Does it get any bigger? I dare say not. As a United fan this is both exciting and extremely nerve racking. Getting to see one of our all time greats on the other side of the pitch versus facing one of the top teams in Europe who have nothing to lose. Real are all but out of the chase for La Liga, with United still strongly in competition for 3 trophies, so they will be able to expense all of their top talent at no risk to their domestic run. Jose Mourinho is a borderline psycho with one goal in mind and he will stop at nothing to achieve it. Personally I’m glad the first leg is at the Bernabeu, hopefully United can get out with a draw and put them away at home in three weeks time.
Ronaldo has said “My heart’s in Manchester United” so this will be an emotional tie no matter what, but I think the return leg will tell the full story for this round. Not to take away from today’s game, it is massive. Expect Madrid to come out firing and United sitting back. An early goal will be needed to open this one up, but I don’t think either of these European giants will disappoint.
Predicted starting 11:
Manchester United: Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra – Nani, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa – Rooney, RVP
Real Madrid: Arbeloa, Pepe, Ramos, Coentrao – Alonso, Khedira, Ozil – Di Maria, Ronaldo, Benzema
Final Score: Real Madrid 1 -1 Manchester United (full disclosure: that is
grossly slightly biased)
